England & Scotland

Drove from London to The Pembroke Arms Hotel, right outside of Salisbury in Wilton. Had a nice dinner, chicken skewers with yogurt sauce with a lemon creme brule. It's close to Stonehenge, and we found out that it costs about $25 a person just to walk up to it, and you can see it just fine from the road. So we drove over, parked in a field and took pictures there. HA, we win. Also one of those doves totally got squished by a car sometime between us driving up and coming back from Stonehenge.

Also our rear taillight is out. Yaaaaay, now we get to drive into Salisbury to get it fixed. On another note, the wireless hotspot is really working out. Especially since we don't have the proper maps on our GPS. Also we have bluetooth music (Which I totally didn't have to call to figure out) Another yay.

Baby Ducks

Their nest is so inconveniently located on the edge of the pool. So my dad built them a ramp and we made sure they got out of the pool. Poor stupid ducks.

Verve is a free, fluid dynamics painting program. You don't even have to install anything! It's still in a beta stage so there are some issues, but as you can see it doesn't really affect the end result much.

The settings I used were these:

Brush
Size/Opacity/Blur:  ON
Blending:  51%
Build Up:  13% (Raise this number for thicker paint)

Layer
Bump:  2%
Glossiness:  2%
Diffusion:  10%
Metallic:  0%

Top bar
Fluidity:  0%  (Set this to 100 for some awesome liquid paint effects!)
Smudge:  50%

Misadventures in Europe

Krippen: Germany
May 8-10, 2014

Our hotel, the Grundmule. We got free ferry rides and train tickets to Dresden by staying here, so we used em. We got in to the hotel at 10:30 at night, and we were lucky they waited for us because the front desk is supposed to close at nine.

We were held up on our five hour drive from the Frankfurt airport by being utterly exhausted because we landed and didn't have a rental car. So our adventure in the airport took from 8 am to 2 pm. We tried to buy a sim card, after looking for the store in the gargantuan airport, but turns out our phones don't accept new sim cards. So that was a wasted venture. Saved us 22 bucks though.

We had to pull over and sleep on the drive over because we were both exhausted. Actually, at our first stop at the gas station mum lost the keys, so we were stuck outside while we looked for them for about thirty minutes. yaaaaay.

Saxon Switzerland National Park

We took the train to Kurot Ratham, took the ferry to the other side, then hiked up the mountain through the woods and lots and lots of stairs to see Bastei. I don't remember what that means in German, but I know that was the sign we had to follow. That bridge was built during the middle ages, that's insane. The drop is underestimated in these pictures, it really was high up. Me + altitude + stairs = lol, but I didn't die and I got up there.

Also, I have no idea who those people are posing introspectively in those pictures. German people are just mystical like that.

Dresden, Germany

Took the train from Bad Schandau to Dresden main to walk around and see the old church and opera house and stuff. I liked looking at the horses more than the buildings, obviously, and I got myself a tasty crepe. Mum was upset cause it didn't come with nutella but that's good cause then she didn't want any of it. Mmmm rubbery soggy bread. We found a place to eat for dinner and we were exhausted; something called 5 degrees. The food was weird, we both got gnocchi, hers with white sauce and mine with red sauce. The red sauce tasted off, and my mom got uncooked white onion in hers, which she attempted to pull out. At least the beer was good.

We stopped at the store in the train station and it took me five minutes just staring at the shampoo to find one that was indeed shampoo and not body wash or face wash. I probably should have looked up the word for shampoo, in hindsight. We also got goodies for our drive to the czech.

More Mayakka

Went with my mom to Myakka, since she's never been (A florida state park) and even though I was the one driving I spotted all the animals, including a deer a hundred yards off into the woods on my right side. Got into a conversation with another photographer about the turtle. It was cute, we sat there and made sure it got off the road safe before we left. The gators were hanging around two creole women fishing, or at least trying to, I think the gator was scaring off the fish.

That bird in the road isn't a good pic, but it's the first wild turkey I've ever seen and I'm proud of it, so there.

This has damn near killed me. This has been through hell and back with revisions, but I think it's finally coming along. The shadows used to be blue and it looked awful, but this seems to capture the mood better. (Also rediscovered a fun brush)

The colors make sense, the value is looking good, and for what the client asked for, I think I'm doing it justice. Future/past war things are the bane of my existence. At least I have the opportunity to face my fears.

The pretty Dachshund is Roona, and the puppy is Rousey, she's new. Both are my friends dogs, and it was such a nice day out we decided to go to the beach to let them play. Saw some other beautiful dogs while we were out, and the girls had fun playing.
